Why Does Our Body Need Iron?

Our body needs many minerals to carry out different functions, and so minerals are important. Iron is one such mineral needed by our body to perform a variety of functions. Iron is a part of all cells, i.e. part of the protein hemoglobin that carries oxygen from our lungs throughout our bodies.
Iron helps muscles store and use oxygen and is also a part of many enzymes. Being part of enzymes, it helps the body to digest foods. Along with the above mentioned functions it carries out many other cell functions, and deficiency of iron in the body can create malfunctioning in the routine body activity.
