The term ‘eczema’ has been derived from a Greek word, which means ‘to boil’. Initially, a person suffering from eczema may find his or her skin may feel very dry. There is no cure for eczema but there are many treatments available. Some of them are given below:
- The most common thing used to treat types of eczema is lotions and creams. Gels and creams made from herbal extracts of chamomile, licorice, and witch hazel have been explored to reduce symptoms of eczema.
- Emollients are moisturizers that provide the skin with a barrier, which softens and hydrates the skin. This is the most common treatment and should be used every day even if you do not have eczema symptoms. This barrier will prevent dryness and make the skin feel more comfortable.
- Regular cleaning of house is necessary, it reduce the population of house dust mites.
- Use gloves when you are using chemicals, solvents and detergents.
- Drink as much water as possible. Water will help to add moisture to your skin.
- Never take a bath in hot water. Remember to always apply a moisturizer to your skin after every bath to prevent further dryness of your skin.
- Always wear cotton fabrics and avoid clothes made of wool and other rough fibers.
- Small amounts of exposure to the sunlight may also prove to be beneficial for your eczema.
