Everyone will have to experience the on set of gray hair at some stage in life. Gray hair is the symptom of improper protein synthesis. Gray hair can occur as young as in our teens and range into our late 50`s and even older.

Following are causes of Gray Hair:

  1. Gray hair is usually related with aging. As we get older the pigment (color) cells in the hair gradually die. As the color cells die, the hair loses its color and it becomes transparent.
  2. The most common reason of early gray hair is hereditary and we can inherit it from our parents.
  3. If you are deficient in B12 or suffer from a thyroid imbalance and anemia can also cause your hair to go Gray.
  4. Smokers are four times more likely to have gray hair at a young age and smoking has been conclusively linked to accelerated hair loss.
  5. Sever illness can stop the production of melanin.
  6. Hair may turn gray due to stress. Any prolong suffer or stress can cause the graying hair. Shock worries and sever tensions can slow down the production of melanin.
  7. Hair grows white or gray when the color pigment ceases to be produced in hair follicle and small air spaces take its place.

One of the types of Vitamin B needed to maintain a healthy body is Vitamin B12. It’s also known as Cobalamin, and is an essential for the processes of converting the carbohydrates, fats and proteins from food into energy. Most importantly, it helps keeping the red blood cells healthy and therefore prevent heart disease as well as keeping the immune system functioning at its maximum level.

Vitamin B12 is also used to create the protective covering of all nerve cells in the body, and the most important function of it is to form healthy red blood cells.

Although it’s responsible for the better growth of red blood cells but white blood cells also need Vitamin B12 to ensure that the immune system functioning properly. All of the nerve cells in the body also need Vitamin B12 to form their protective fatty layer, and so it is essential for all of the nerves but is especially so for those in the brain.
