U.S. officials reported that the addition of another million doses H1N1 swine flu vaccine, brings the total so far to 23.2 million doses. Janet Napolitano, secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, said that they know people are frustrated by the inability to immediately get vaccine right now and also by waiting in lines and by uncertainty.Production delays have resulted in far fewer doses of the H1N1 vaccine than federal officials had hoped for by this time. The first estimates called for 40 million doses by the end of October and 190 million doses by year’s end.
According to Barcelona Reporter, A cheerleader “Desiree Jennings” gets Dystonia from Flu Shot Vaccine. Further it says that a cheerleader for the NFL Washington Redskins, Desiree Jennings, is suffering from Dystonia, due to swine flu she got earlier.
Dystonia is a neurological condition in which muscles are affected, causing twisting, abnormal postures and repetitive movements. The disorder can be inherited or caused by infection, a reaction to drugs, physical trauma, poisoning, or can be birth-related.
Just before getting a seasonal flu shot in August, Desiree’s health was fine, but then 10 days afterward she contracted flu-like symptoms. Things only got worse from there, and she was put in the hospital for seizures on two occasions before being diagnosed with Dystonia. Doctors have only speculated that the flu shot was the cause.
