Posted on February 10, 2009 by admin

Aortic Aneurysm is a term used to describe the swelling and dilation of the aorta. Aorta is the largest artery in the body. It originates from the left ventricle of the heart and brings oxygenated blood to all parts of the body in the systemic circulation.

On swelling, Aorta gets stretched. The stretched aorta can cause discomfort and pain in general but the main risk is if the aorta ruptures as a result of the aneurysm. Aortic Aneurysm can cause massive internal hemorrhaging and an instant death. High blood pressure can be a reason for Aortic Aneurysm, so lowering the high blood pressure lessens the chances of Aortic Aneurysms.
