Cerebral palsy (CP) is an term encompassing a group of non-progressive, motor, non-contagious conditions that cause physical disability in human development. Cerebral palsy can also lead to other health issues, including vision, hearing, and speech problems, and learning disabilities.
CP is usually caused by brain damage that occurs before or during a child’s birth, or during the first 3 to 5 years of a child’s life Cerebral palsy can’t be cured, but treatment will often improve a child’s capabilities and it is a life-long condition. Sleep is especially important for children as it directly impacts mental and physical development. A good night’s sleep allows children to wake up feeling refreshed physically and mentally. During sleep, muscles and skin are repaired. Kids under age four need 10 to 12 hours of sleep at night.
