Two simulated pranayama exercises have been tested by researchers, i.e. slow deep breathing and breathing out for twice as long as breathing in, and it helped the sufferers.

Actually, in Asthma, the airways become restricted and thus make breathing difficult. Yoga improves breathing and hence helps Asthma sufferers.

Although it helps a lot, but still Asthma patients should not stop their medication, they should experiment with breathing exercises, and reduce the medication depending on the result. Stopping medication suddenly will cause more severe problems.
