The first such event started in 1985 as a week-long program to provide information to the public about the disease, and now it’s a whole month dedicated for the cause. This great success has been the result of constant efforts of national public service organizations, professional medical associations, government agencies and thousands of public figures.

Breast cancer is the second most common cancer among women in the United States after skin cancer. According to the American Cancer Society under 200,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year and there are 2.5 million breast cancer survivors living in the United States, and 40,000 more women will succumb to the disease this year and die.

According to Attornyatlaw.com, A diet including walnuts may help women drastically reduce their risk of breast cancer. According to them, the researchers from Marshall University School of Medicine in West Virginia have said that eating the equivalent of a handful of walnuts every day dramatically reduced the risk of breast cancer in laboratory rats, and so it’s believed that humans would similarly benefit from the antioxidants, phytosterols, and omega-3 fatty acids found in walnuts.

In order to conduct this study, the researchers maintained half of the mice with the human equivalent of two ounces of walnuts per day, while the other half received a normal diet not including the daily dose of walnuts, and they bred all of them in exposure to breast cancer environment.
