Leprosy is also known as Hansen disease. Leprosy is a chronic bacterial infection. It primarily affects the skin, mucous membranes, peripheral nervous system, eyes and testes. In particular, the hands the face are affected, where numbness and disfigurement may occur. Leprosy is caused by infection with the bacterium Mycobacterium leprae. It is thought to transmit through airborne droplets or by direct contact with infected areas in other people. When a person becomes infected with Mycobacterium leprae, the bacteria begin to multiply within the body and symptoms often begin after three to five years.
The most common symptoms of leprosy are following:
- The earliest sign of leprosy is commonly a spot on the skin that may be slightly redder, darker, or lighter than the person’s normal skin.

If you’ve some pets you must know about Zoonoses. Before going to explain what it is, you need to know that there’re some illnesses that can be spread to umans via pets. Pets can actually carry certain bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi that can transmit infections to people, making them ill. These infections from animals can be of variety of severness, and can be highly dangerous to babies and young kids, pregnant women, elderly people, and people whose immune systems have been weakened by illness or disease.
Now coming to Zoonoses that is pronounced as ‘ zoo-uh-no-seez’ is a term used for all infections that can be passed from animals to humans. Mostly, people get zoonoses on getting bitten or scratched or being into contact with an animal’s waste products, saliva, or dander, i.e.flakes from hair, feathers, or skin etc.

Cholera is caused by infection with bacterium called vibrato cholera its mainly found in areas that aren’t clean and where hygiene and sanitation are not very good.
Cholera has been very rare in industrialized nations for the last 100 years” however : the disease is still common today in other parts of the world including the Indian subcontinent and Africa. Although cholera can be life threatening it is easily prevented and treated. In the united states because of advanced water and sanitation systems cholera is not a major threat.
Common Symptoms:
- Watery diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Leg cramps.
Home Treatment:
- The main treatment for cholera is to drink plenty of fluids to replace those you have
- You should drink water and replace the salt and minerals you have lost with an oral dehydration solution. You can also make home made; solution using sugar and salt; but you should contact your doctor
Medicine:
If you are very dehydrated and fluid intake in not helping, you may need hospital treatment. You may be given antibiotics to treat cholera. They will help to control diarrhea
Prevention:
If you are traveling to an area where there is a risk of developing it.
- Drink bottled water only.
- Eat food that is freshly prepared.
- Wash your hands after going to the toilet and particularly before handling food or drinking water.
