Alcohol, whether taken in large or small doses, immediately disturbs the natural functions of the mind and body .Alcohol is poisonous to many types of human cells .Alcohol can affect your health in numerous ways. They include health, emotional, social, work or school, and financial problems. The main symptoms of alcohol are vomiting, stupor, behavioral changes. It can cause Heart disease: high blood pressure, irregular heartbeats, heart damage, heart failure, mental disorders etc.

Alcohol affects the nervous system by depressing it, meaning it tends to make the body show uninhibited behavior and movements. Alcohol can affect your mental state; people who drink become aggressive or angry. Mental Health problems can also cause people to drink too much. It can also change your personality, such as getting suspicious, jealous, or possessive.

Mental illnesses do not always result to drinking in excess but in some cases, a person with mental illness can cause that person to drink alcohol too much. Alcohol can also cause other mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, and schizophrenia. People who consume high amounts of alcohol are vulnerable to higher levels of mental ill health. Alcohol plays a contributing role in the development of depression.

Alcohol is the second most widely consumed psychoactive drug in the world .Alcohol is a toxic substance so having it frequently circulating in your body will harm your health. Alcohol can affect your health in numerous ways. They include health, emotional, social, work or school, and financial problems.

Ethyl alcohol or ethanol, are commonly known as alcohol. The consumption of ethanol has been shown to exert profound effects on cellular membranes which result in damage and/or adaptation.

Alcohol also enters the cell membranes of neurons and changes their properties. The parts which first suffer from alcohol are those expansions of the body which the anatomists call the membranes.

The incorporation of alcohol had two opposite effects on the binding strengths between nucleic acids and the partially hydrophobic membrane. Ethanol disrupts the physical structure of cell membranes. The most fluid membranes, including those that are low in cholesterol, are the most easily disordered by ethanol.

The brain is the control center of the body; it controls all the systems in your body including your muscular system, your respiratory system and your digestive system. So brain plays important role for us, but Alcohol can affect several parts of the brain, but in general, alcohol contracts brain tissue and depresses the central nervous system.

Alcohol also enters the cell membranes of neurons and changes their properties Acute and chronic alcohol consumption can have both subtle as well as dramatic effects on the brain and its functioning.

Excessive drinking over a prolonged period of time can cause serious problems with cognition and memory. Difficulty walking, blurred vision, slurred speech, slowed reaction times, impaired memory are surely the causes which affects the brain due to drinking of Alcohol.

Alcohol destroys brain cells and unlike many other types of cells in the body, brain cells do not regenerate. Large quantities of drinking alcohol especially on an empty stomach can produce a blackout, or an interval of time for which the intoxicated person cannot recall key details of events, or even entire events. The affect of alcohol on brain is that the person may experience some memory loss and may have exaggerated states of emotion. Alcohol enhances GABA receptor function. This causes feelings of calm, anxiety-reduction and sleep

Food supplies energy and provides the building blocks needed to replace worn or damaged cells and the nutritional components needed for body function. Once ingested, food must be digested, so it is available for energy and maintenance of body structure and function Digestion begins in the mouth and continues in the stomach and intestines, with help from the pancreas.

Alcohol increases the stomach’s digestive enzymes, which can irritate the stomach wall, producing heartburn, nausea, gastritis, and ulcers. Even moderate drinking can still cause changes in gastric acid secretion, cause acute gastric mucosal injury, and also interfere with gastric and intestinal motility. Alcohol causes damage to the muscles that surround the stomach, and this damage changes how long it takes food to go through these organs.

Alcohol affects our nutritional process by affecting digestion, storage, utilization, and excretion of nutrients. Alcohol inhibits the breakdown of nutrients into usable molecules by decreasing secretion of digestive enzymes from the pancreas. Alcohol inhibits fat absorption and thereby impairs absorption of the vitamins A, E, and D that are normally absorbed along with dietary fats. Alcohol causes damage to the muscle layers of the stomach wall which mix incoming food bolus with gastric fluids. Alcohol may also inflame the small and large intestines.
