Depression is a loaded word in our culture. Depression is a serious and pervasive mood disorder. Depression in men is a common illness Symptoms of depression are not as well understood in men as they are in women.
The symptoms of depression are less in men then in women; the reason is that men are less likely to show “typical” signs of depression, such as crying, sadness, loss of interest in previously enjoyable activities, or verbally expressing thoughts of suicide. Instead, men are more likely to keep their feelings hidden. There are many possible symptoms of depression, but some of them are given below:
- General slowing down or restlessness.
- Showing lack of interest in or ability to enjoy former hobbies, pastimes, social activities etc.
- Having trouble with sleeping, early-morning awakening, or oversleeping are the other signs of depression in men.
- Feeling tired, losing weight, or weight gain can also shows the symptoms of depression.
- Violent Risky or abusive behavior is another sign of depression.
- Becoming confused, worried and agitated.
- Neglecting family and friends.
- Showing lack of interest from responsibilities and also not paying attention to yourself.
- Behavior is totally changed as it is in normal form.
- Unexplained headaches, backache or similar complaints are other factors.
- Self-medicates through alcohol
