Pregnancy Diet: Requirements & Prescribed Intake Of Vitamin C
Vitamin C is essential during pregnancy because it helps manufacturing Collagen, which is a protein that gives structure to your baby’s bones, muscles, and blood vessels. Vitamin C is also helps preventing diseases. Hence it’s useful not only for fetus but also for mother.
An interesting thing about Vitamin C is that your body can’t store it. So, it becomes very crucial to fill the gap if it’s created, that can be done by having at least 65 milligrams of it daily. This amount can be managed by having any two or three of the following:
- 1/2 cup citrus fruit juice
- 1/2 grapefruit
- 1 medium orange
- 1/2 cup cantaloupe
- 1/2 cup shredded cabbage or coleslaw
- 2/3 cup cooked broccoli
- 3/4 cup cooked cauliflower
- 1 and 1/2 large tomatoes
