Mushrooms are although favored throughout the world, but specifically in Asia, mushrooms are favored for their earthy flavor and their therapeutic properties.

Mushrooms are good not for taste only, but the nutritional value they have. They help amp up your immune response by boosting the production of white blood cells. The increased white blood cells benefit  by increasing cellular metabolism and removing toxins. This also prevents damage from free radicals.

Some of the mushrooms that make best choice for you are shitake, maitake, and reishi-all of which contain polysaccharides, sterols, coumarin, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that increase your immune function.

The exotic mushrooms, such as shittake and maitake, are no doubt the best choice for their immune boosting properties, but the regular ol’ white button mushrooms also contain the same types of polysaccharides, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and soluble and insoluble fibre. This is great news for people who already include white mushrooms in their regular diet and cannot afford to include the expensive shiitake, maitake and reishi mushrooms.
