Rosacea is a chronic, acne-like condition of the facial skin. It typically results in hyper-responsive blood vessels that dilate to numerous internal and external stimuli. It typically first appears when people reach their 30s and 40s as a flushing or subtle redness on the cheeks, nose, chin or forehead. If rosacea is left untreated, then it tends to worsen over time because changes are gradual.

- Laser treatment or other surgical procedures may be used to remove visible blood vessels, reduce extensive redness or correct disfigurement of the nose. Red lines, spider veins and rosacea is treated very effectively by these lasers
- Cosmetics may be used to reduce the effect of rosacea on appearance. Patients may also benefit from gentle and appropriate skin care.
- Products containing a sulfur drug or azelaic acid may be prescribed as an alternative or adjunct to antibiotic therapy. cardiovascular medication is sometimes used to control severe flushing
- Eye symptoms are commonly treated with oral antibiotics and ophthalmic therapy.
