Eating a diet that is healthy and varied is the best way to help you boost your mood through food. Food can make a difference to your mood. Adopting a healthy eating regime is the best way to prevent the pitfalls of stringent dieting and the best way to brighten your outlook for the long term. Whereas crash dieting puts a lot of stress on an individual and it demands a lot of self control. This in turn results in disturbances in our emotions and can change how we think and feel about ourselves. Research has shown that certain foods have the power to boost your mood, memory and concentration. 

Following are some foods which are best source of boosting mood and are balanced diet.

  • Foods that contain high levels of tryptophan have proven to be mood enhancing.  These include chicken, meat, fish, bananas, pineapple, eggs, nuts, beans, cheese and milk.

  • Omega 3 fatty acids found in oily fish can help to reduce depression and increase your energy levels and boosts mood.
  • Leafy greens are nature’s antidepressants. They’re an excellent source of folic acid, a lack of which has been linked to depressed mood. So try to eat leafy greens to remain fresh and undepressed.
