Posted on March 08, 2009 by admin

High blood pressure is not good in any condition, and specifically during pregnancy as it’s effecting the health of mother as well as the unborn baby.

High blood pressure during pregnancy can because of the reason that mother has been suffering from it before pregnancy or might got it once she is pregnant, i.e. gestational hypertension. Whichever the cause of high blood pressure during pregnancy, it can cause low birth weight or premature delivery of the baby. More severe result can be the development of ‘Preeclampsia’, a sudden increase in blood pressure after the 20th week of pregnancy, which can be life-threatening for both mother and the unborn baby.

It’s crucial to treat blood pressure at this time either by the close monitoring of the baby and or lifestyle changes and certain medicines. In case of Preeclampsia, early delivery of the baby may become necessary.
