Causes Of Heart Attack In Men

A heart attack usually happens when a blood clot develops in one of the blood vessels that lead to the heart muscle (coronary arteries).  A heart attack occurs if the clot becomes large enough to cut off most or all of the blood flow through the artery. The blocked blood flow prevents oxygen-rich blood from reaching the part of the heart muscle fed by the artery. The lack of oxygen damages the heart muscle.

Causes of Heart Attack in Men are following:

  • People who smoke regularly have a much higher risk of heart attack as compared to people who never smoked.
  • Emotional stress or pain can lead to heart attack.
  • If a person’s blood cholesterol level is high, then he is at a higher risk of developing blood clots in the arteries. Blood clots can block the supply of blood to the heart muscle which causes a heart attack.
  • A person eating high fats is at greater risk of having heart attack.
  • Age is considered to be the greatest risk factor of having heart attack. When a man is over 45 years of age, then his risk of having a heart attack starts to rise significantly.
