Effects Of Alcohol On Membranes
Alcohol is the second most widely consumed psychoactive drug in the world .Alcohol is a toxic substance so having it frequently circulating in your body will harm your health. Alcohol can affect your health in numerous ways. They include health, emotional, social, work or school, and financial problems.
Ethyl alcohol or ethanol, are commonly known as alcohol. The consumption of ethanol has been shown to exert profound effects on cellular membranes which result in damage and/or adaptation.
Alcohol also enters the cell membranes of neurons and changes their properties. The parts which first suffer from alcohol are those expansions of the body which the anatomists call the membranes.
The incorporation of alcohol had two opposite effects on the binding strengths between nucleic acids and the partially hydrophobic membrane. Ethanol disrupts the physical structure of cell membranes. The most fluid membranes, including those that are low in cholesterol, are the most easily disordered by ethanol.
