Causes Of Lower Back Pain

Back pain in the lower back or low back pain is a common concern .Our lower back is the hinge between the upper and lower body, and is especially vulnerable to strain and injury when we are lifting, reaching and twisting. People with back pain along with fever, loss of bowel or bladder control, pain when coughing, progressive weakness or pain radiating into the legs are in serious problem.

low-back-painThe most common causes of low back pain are the Strain or inflammation of muscles, ligaments and tendons. Low back pain may reflect nerve or muscle irritation or bone lesions .Spinal stenosis causes back pain in the aging population. As people age, bone strength and muscle elasticity and tone tend to decrease. The discs begin to lose fluid and flexibility, which decreases their ability to cushion the vertebrae.

Tumors, possibly cancerous, can be a source of skeletal pain too. A muscle strain is another most common cause of low back pain. Pressure on nerve roots in the spinal canal can cause pain in the back. Due to pain in the lower back it can cause Nerve root compression. It can also cause when there is irritation to joints and discs, congenital abnormalities in the spine, scar tissue etc. The most common treatment for lower back pain is the use of anti-inflammatory drugs or painkillers combined with exercise and physical therapy.
