According to WSJ health blog, “there’s a growing body of evidence connecting more TV watching with poorer diets”. They further say that the latest study in the field has revealed that kids who watch more TV than their peers while in middle and high school have less healthy diets five years later. As young adults, they eat more fried foods, fast food and sugary drinks and consume fewer vegetables, fruits and whole grains.

Daheia Barr-Anderson, lead researcher of the study and a scientist at University of Minnesota’s School of Kinesiology says that they can’t say that they actually know the specific mechanism linking TV and diets, but they see this relationship.

Besides that there’s a fact that sitting for long hours effects the body shape, and since children are in growing age where their body is actually getting the proper shape, and if they keep on sitting long in front of TV, that does effect the normal body shaping process.
